Act 1 Unbeknownst to them, Blake and Katie lived two blocks away from each other in New Haven in 2008, when Blake was in his first year of graduate school at Yale and Katie was interning at Long Wharf Theatre. Without meeting, they both celebrated on election night in Sullivan's Pub. That winter, Blake and Katie met when Chautauqua Theater Company came to Yale to hold auditions; Katie was behind the table in Room 221 of 149 York Street when Blake came in to do his monologues. They spent the summer at Chautauqua delving into dramaturgy for Arcadia, making home-cooked meals, stargazing, and laughing at old movies. (Katie even put up with watching the Yankees.) By the end of the summer, they were smitten.
Happily Everywhere After Since then, Blake and Katie have been head over heels (and sneakers and boots) in love. They prefer to be in the same place as often as possible, but their love has also spanned impressive distances as school and work have brought them to New Haven, New York, Washington, Chapel Hill, Syracuse and over 50 other cities in 30 states and provinces. San Diego holds a special place for Blake and Katie since they became engaged in the English garden of Marston House in Balboa Park on July 14, 2015.
